Being a person who enjoys the more quirky of the culinary treats in New York, I was told about a new phenomenon: Beard Papa.
Beard Papa, as the name implies, is a custard filled puff pastry which originated in Japan. They run about about $7.50 for a half dozen.
It's hard to describe the mind blowing deliciousness pouring from the puff in the form of cool creamy custard, but to say the least, it's prolly the best custard I have ever had this side of bruleé.
It is a mess....and a delight. While I should have only had one, I had four. The result, I'm sure, will be dangerous to my heart, body and wallet.
Think of a eclair without the chocolate, and you have it.
Beard Papa, I salute you! We all salute you! [Thanks Kathy]

I first had Beard Papa while living in Japan. I was mentioning how much I hate cream puffs and my friend Jordan told me that if I went to try Beard Papa I would change my mind. Well, quickly found myself unable to even walk past to place without having a Pavlovian response. I was like a slave! I have never had anything like Beard Papa, and i am sure I never will! Now, I see that Beard Papa has spread to New York! I was making no plans to move right now, but I guess I will have to leave South Carolina, because me and my Papa have got to be together! Together again at last!!!!

Where in New York City is Beard Papa located? Do they sell solitary cream puffs or must I head to the trough like a fattened sow? Holy cow!
